Map of Philadelphia Metro Area
The city of love. That's brotherly love to you bubba! Aside from being loving and friendly, Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania; most people don't realize that it's quite a big city: it ranks 6th in population size in the US. About 1.5M people live there. The Philly metro area is the fifth-largest in the country with a population of approximately 6M. Of course, in the 1800's it was THE city. It was the first capital and most populated city in the United States. It was the second largest city in the world, behind London. It was far more important than Boston and New York City in political and social importance though you certainly cannot say that now. At the end of the day it was all about Ben. Good old Ben Franklin make Philadelphia what it was and we've been missing him ever since. And let's not forget that Philadelphia gave rise to the ideas that would lead directly to the American Revolution. It's the American center of liberty and freedom! While we don't know exactly where Ben Franklin lived, it certainly must have been in one of these popular neighborhoods: Logan Circle, Society Hill, Washington Square, Ballard, Rittenhouse, Schuylkill, Hawthorne, Bella Vista, Queen Village, Pennsport, Wharton, Point Breeze, Grays Ferry, Girard Estate, Packer Park, Whitman, Eastwick, Elmwood, Pashcall, Kingsessing, Cobbs Creek, Walnut Hill, Cedar Park, Spruce Hill, Mantua, Belmont, Mill Creek, Haddington, Overbrook, Carroll Park, Wynnefield, Spring Garden, Poplar, Northern Liberties, Francisville, Fairmount, Ludlow, Yorktown, North Central, Sharswood, Brewerytown , Strawberry Mansion, Stanton, Franklinville, Chestnut, Kensington, Harrowgate, McGuire, Glenwood, Fairhill, Wissahickon Hills, Wissahickon, Roxborough Park, Dearnley Park, Penn Knox, Melrose Park Gardens, Fern Rock and Summerdale.
