Roughly two million people live in Portland larger metro area. The city was founded in the middle of the last century primarily as a mining and timber town but now it's much more than that. Ironically it's known now for its strong land-use laws in public transit commitments. Portland has a lovely climate marked by warm summers and rainy but temperate winters.
