Want to see a perfect example of green, clean living in a thoroughly modern city? Then Portland is for you! It's located near the nexus of the Willamette and Columbia rivers and has a population of roughly 600K residents. It's Oregon's most populous city. Roughly two million people live in Portland larger metro area. The city was founded in the middle of the last century primarily as a mining and timber town but now it's much more than that. Ironically it's known now for its strong land-use laws in public transit commitments. Portland has a lovely climate marked by warm summers and rainy but temperate winters. Fair warning, you really have to be comfortable with rain to live in Portland. But if you are it's brilliant. The climate is ideal for growing flowers, brewing beer and outside activities. Portland is known among other things for its good local breweries and being the home to the Portland Trailblazers (basketball team). There are so many parks to visit while there. Every neighborhood has several. Popular neighborhoods include: Southwest, Northwest, Pearl District, North, Alberta Arts, Hawthorne, Belmont, Northeast and the Southeast
